The cloud consist of many parts but at the end of the day it means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead of from your local computer. It can be said that the cloud is just the internet.

Why care? Your data and applications can be stored in multiple locations for redundancy and accessibility. Let’s say you have tax returns from your business on your current computer network. Those files are accessed from a file server and those files are backed up to an external device every night. Well, that is great but what if there is a flood or fire in your office and all of that equipment and data is destroyed. What if you’re on a business trip and you want to access those files? With cloud solutions, as long as you have web access you have access to your data. If a disaster strikes or you’re traveling and want access to your data, you’ve got it.
